HOUSTON BOARD POSITIONS
President
The President is the chief executive officer of the Chapter and presides at all meetings of the Chapter and of the Chapter Board. The President appoints the parliamentarian, historian, official greeter, and standing committees, as deemed necessary or appropriate, with the exception of the Nominating Committee, and subject to the direction of the Board of Directors and Bylaws. The President is an ex- officio (non-voting) member of each committee except the Nominating Committee and has such other powers and performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Chapter Board.
President-Elect
The President-elect is vested with all the powers and performs all the duties of the President in case of the absence or disability of the President. The President-elect has other powers and performs other duties as may be delegated by the President or by the Chapter Board.
Secretary
The Secretary keeps, or causes to be kept, and has charge of the minutes of all meetings of the Chapter and of the Chapter Board; serves notices of all meetings of the Chapter and of the Chapter Board; executes official documents, with the President, in the name of the Chapter; is the custodian of the Chapter seal; keeps the Bylaws and such other papers as the Chapter Board may direct; and performs all the duties incident to the office of Secretary, subject to the control and direction of the Chapter Board.
Treasurer
The Treasurer oversees the chapter accounts and annual budget and handles the accounting of both the Operating Budget and B/C/DP (Non-Profit) budgets. The Treasurer processes members’ payments for monthly meetings, receives chapter dues from the EWI Corporate office, and facilitates reimbursements and check requests.
Sergeant-At-Arms (SAA)
The Sergeant-at-Arms keeps or causes to be kept, complete records of the representatives’ attendance at meetings; has charge of all reservations; and performs such other duties as may be assigned by the President or the Chapter Board.
Membership Director
The Membership Director leads and directs the membership committee activities of the Chapter in the recruitment and retention of member firms in accordance with the Bylaws and Standing Rules.
The Membership Director will keep the Chapter pictorial directory in good order and up-to-date. The directory is published during the year with current membership information.
Program Director
The Program Director coordinates the event planning and arranging of the monthly meetings of the chapter. This includes securing the meeting space, arranging the catering for the evening, and handling all arrangements surrounding the event, including creating the meeting invitation and providing to the SAA for distribution to the chapter.
Communications Director
The Communications Director prepares, publishes, and distributes the Chapter’s monthly publication and communicates Chapter events to Corporate Communications Director. EWI Connect contains information on monthly meetings, a calendar of events, and news provided by Chapter representatives on their firm, executive, or themselves.
Fundraising Director
The Fundraising Director directs and supervises raising funds to finance special activities and/or supplement operating funds for the Chapter, including the Business/Career/Development Program funding.
Director-At-Large
The Director-at-Large assignments are designated by the Chapter Board. Houston Chapter’s Director-at-Large is advisor and Board liaison to the EWISP, ASIST, and Philanthropy Committees and reports to the Board all B/C/DP activities (Business/Career/Development Program).
